Carrot Dog Recipe - Oven Baked
If you’re looking for a great vegan option for the cookout you’ve found it. Weather for the 4th of July, or the casual get together. This Carrot dog recipe is sure to wow your guest, vegan or not. The local grocery has a wall of meatless dog options. But this one will quickly become your favorite. The carrot dog packs tons of flavor and is certainly more natural than the mystery vegan concoction sold in stores. Best of all, they’re easy to make!
Carrot Dog Recipe Ingredients
What you’ll need:
Maple syrup or brown sugar
Apple cider vinegar
Start off by Preheating your oven for 400.
Take 8 full-size peeled orange carrots. Measure them next to your hotdogs buns. Cut off the excess pointy ends. Use the peeler to round both ends of the carrot, shaping them like hotdogs.
Place all dogs in a covered baking pan. Or if you don’t have a pan, you can simply cover them with aluminum foil. Bake the dogs in the oven at 400 for 35-45 minutes, until slightly tender. Don’t overdo it. Soft dogs are no bueno.
In a bowl mix together:
1/4 cup of amino acid or soy sauce.
1 cup veggie broth
½ teaspoon of minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
3 tablespoons of maple syrup or brown sugar
3 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 tablespoon cayenne
½ teaspoon fennel seed
1 teaspoon onion powder
Add to a large zip lock bag and let the carrot dogs marinate in the fridge for a minimum of 6 hours. I like to let them marinate overnight before the party.
When they are ready, reheat them by throwing them on the grill at the cookout.
Dress your carrot dog with your favorite toppings. If you’d like, Glaze these dogs on the grill with BBQ sauce, or throw them on a toasted bun with sauerkraut and spicy mustard. These dogs will go perfectly with my Vegan ColeSlaw recipe.
